Winnie.

Mostonbrae Rosebud Darling at Skehandale.

My dreams of having two Beardies came true in March of 2009.

Having had such a beautiful boy from Mostonbrae we decided to go for another from Veronica as she had repeat mated Ellie (Coaleacre Love sonnet) with Cath Moffat's boy, Ryan (CH/irCH Gallus Macracker at Kyleca JW shCm).

My little boy was about to have a playmate and little sister all in one. Mostonbrae Rosebud Darling came home to us in May 2009 and life certainly became double the joy and double the trouble.

It only seemed natural that this little lady was called after my dear mum who passed away in 1968 when I was 6 years old.

So here we are,The Oakes family complete, Our beautiful daughters Jess, Beth & Emi along with Dennis & Winnie, our Bouncing Beardies. How cool.

Winnie and I have a strong bond and I feel this stems from paceing the floors waiting for a phone call from Veronica to say the litter had arrived, to when Winnie was just a couple of days old when She and the rest of her litter needed hand rearing as mum was not too well. What a special time that was and what an honour to be an albeit small part of her life  so early on.

From very early on Veronica could see how mindful this little girlie was, doing everything first ahead of the rest of the litter . She was so bossy and nothing's changed. She came into our home and took charge of Dennis. Fortunately he didn't mind and they have been the best of friends ever since.

Watching them play is better than my favorite TV show. They're so sweet, each is always aware of the other and I would even go so far as to say they're each considerate of the other. Playtime only ceases when they're asleep and their favorite game at the moment is "tick" swipeing eachother with their paws and running. What could  you possibly see that would be more joyful than that?

Personally, I keep waiting for the bubble to burst but so far, so good!

Winnie's growing fast and a real bundle of fun. It's wonderful to see her & Dennis getting along so well. Everywhere we go, we are stopped to face a bararge of questions from people wanting to know about them and wanting  play with them. It's probably vanity but I now find myself irritated by people who simply walk past them. I mean, how can you walk past a Bearded Collie and not stop to play?

Winnie is very aptly named  "Rosebud Darling" and a very strange and wonderful story lies behind her kennel name chosen by Veronica. In that my dear mum always called me her Rosebud Darling and when Veronica said she was considering Rosebud for her kennel name, I was overjoyed. Someone is up there watching aprovingly.

As she gets older, Winnie's character is becoming increasingly sronger. She seems to be  intimidated by nothing. I have never known such a dareing and inquisitive puppy. I often find Dennis looking at me as if to say " can you believe what she's doing! She's a quick learner and is having fun at ring craft classes. I guess having an older sibbling to emulate helps a lot too, everything Dennis does, she goes ahead and does the same.
