Dennis
Mostonbrae Ticket to Ride at Skehandale.
Dennis is my little miracle boy. He came to me quite miraculously via Yvonne Fox who pointed us in the direction of Mrs Veronica Upton in Liverpool.
Veronica had a litter of five puppies from the beautiful Ellie (Coalacre Love sonnet) and the handsome Ryan. (CH/irCH Gallus Macracker at Kyleca JWshCm)
After speaking to Veronica and realising that she had plans for keeping this brown bundle of joy to show, we accepted that he wasn't meant for us and decided to let fate take it's course and see what happened. That evening, fate decided that this lovely lady would call us to say that she'd considered us carefully and would like to meet us with a view to taking her little boy.
Having just lost our boy Norman to Addissons disease we were reeling in the aftermath of his passing. Suddenly we were faced with a little brown boy who seemed to fall into our lives as though someone "up there" had planned it that way!
Caught up in grief, sadness and guilt at having another dog so soon after Norman, we visited Veronica and her family of Beardies the next day. At five weeks old this puppy seemed to recognise my sadness and snuggled into my neck falling asleep for most of the visit.
Of course he was meant for us and the next three weeks seemed to drag so slowly. As anyone will tell you, once you've had a Beardie, the house is never the same without one.
Not having had a puppy for 12 years we certainly found our new boy to be a whirlwind. Training, classes, socialising, and of course Ring Craft classes. This boy had obvious qualities and with the help of Veronica we started such classes with Uncle Bob ( Bob Hernandes) as our teacher.
What a great time we have had since Dennis came to us,we've never been busier. What with Champ shows and Open shows almost weekly. This gorgeous little boy managed to qualify four times for Crufts and in March 2009 we were actually there as exhibitors and not spectators! What a joy.
11 months old.
We decided to call our boy Dennis after my darling Dad Dennis Skean who loved dogs with a passion and passed away in 1997. This name was chosen by our daughters who insisted there wasn't another name that suited him.To be honest, it's great to be saying Dad's name again on a daily basis, even if it's sometines with a scold when Dennis is up to no good.
I'll always be grateful to Veronica and her husband Laurie. They're both very good friends to us and are always there if we need help or advice.
Now that our girls are growing up and going off to university etc, we have a new hobby in showing our dogs, a much needed and very satisfying way of channeling our energies which helps to fill the void of our children moving away from home.. And who knows, if that special someone "up there" is guideing us in the right direction, we could have a champion on our hands. If not, we have a wonderful boy who makes me smile daily and keeps me motivated. I feel blessed to have such wonderful dogs and to have met so many kind, like-minded people such as Veronica and Cath Moffat, both grannies to my dogs!

We haven't stopped there, read on..... to Winnie's page .
