The location of this painting was unknown for several years but I invited people looking at my website to let me know if they recognised where it was painted. Good news!....it has been identified as Skerray, near Thurso.....so thank you Rachael.

The old Salmon Bothy, Cullen

I have just received this photo of one of dad’s paintings.
Unfortunately it has had a sad and neglected past, but its new owner kindly contacted me with a brief history.
He told me that he had just discovered it in a shed in North Uist and estimated it had been lying there for around 20years after the previous owners of the croft had died.
As you can see there is a fair bit of damage to the painting, but the good news is that the new owner hopes to have it reframed and hung in his home.
I wonder why this painting of the “Old Salmon Bothy, Cullen” ended up on the outer Hebrides......there must have been some connection as my father never visited this Island!?
