WAID ACADEMY

The Waid Academy Inter-House Rotary Debate was held on Wednesday 28th October 2013 in the library.

The debate was keen, entertaining and informative.  The competition was hotly contested with excellent performances from all individuals.  The motions debated were:

'This house believes that there is no longer a need for public libraries.'

'This house believes that video games encourage violence.'

'This House believes that the advantages of chocolate outweigh the disadvantages.'

The judges for the evening were Mrs K McCormack (a former teacher of English at Waid), local farmer Mr A Peddie, and Mr D Mathie from the Rotary Club of Anstruther.

Individual prize winners were:

Chairperson – Cameron Findlay (St Adrian House)

First Proposer – Rose Mackinnon (St David House)

First Opposer – Joseph Duncan (St Adrian House

Second Proposer – Kyle Dillon (St Andrew House)

Second Opposer – Alan McKie (St Andrew House)

Vote of Thanks – Orla Jones (St Adrian House)

The Waid Academy Rotary Trophy was awarded to the winning House – St Adrian by Mr I Brunton, a past president of the Rotary Club of Anstruther.
