The Big Dinner
07 March 2015

Sit down to your dinner in this country – and in Africa someone will stand up and walk’

Our ’Big Dinner’ was one of many held throughout Scotland  on the 7th March to raise funds for the charity ‘500 Miles‘. This charity was set up by the inspirational figure of Olivia Giles, to help peoples with disabilities in Malawi and Zambia. It supports the development and delivery of prosthetic and orthotic services to the poor of these countries, who have limited access to these aids which can transform their lives.

The evening was organised with a live televised link-up, which promoted the auction of a dinner evening with various celebrities including Colin Montgomery, Lorraine Kelly, Jeremy Paxman, Nicola Sturgeon , Kirsty Wark amongst many others.  The Proclaimers rounded off the evening with a special rendition of their anthem '500 miles'.

Our invited guest speaker Jim Robertson gave a very amusing talk which had all 120 guests in stitches and this was followed by various fundraising games

We would like to thank all who took part and who enjoyed an excellent 'Big Dinner', with proceeds of £1700 going to the 500 MILES charity.

The letter of thanks from the charity can be seen by clicking HERE
