Spalted Beech
Spalted timber is wood that has been stored for up to ten years before
milling, this leads to it having irregular patterns of different colours
caused by different varieties of fungas growing through the log,
there can be black lines which can occur at the junction of two species of fungus
softer and lighter than normal wood, can be a challenge to work but
applying Chestnut Cellulose sanding sealer will help.

Elm and Elm Burrs
Burring is a swirling grain which grows ovwer the years from a single point such as an insect hole, it is attractive
and usually comes with a big rough lump on the outside of the tree.
