Popular finishes for turning

Friction Polish is a wax enriched French polish, it is a thick coating with an amber colour and a deep waxy lustre, apply and when dry apply a cloth to the surface while spinning to get a very nice shine.

Cellulose sanding sealer, a grain sealer and sanding lubricant, apply before and during sanding to lubricate the sanding and prevent clogging, ideal for softer timbers or where you are experiencing tear out. Compatible with lacquer and wax finishes.

Shellac sanding sealer, a traditional sanding sealer, based of french polish with sanding lubricants, compatible with friction polish and waxes, thin with methylated spirit.

Microcrystalline wax, a petroleum based wax with a high melting point and fine molecule size, very water resistant and good for materials that are to be handled.

Cut'n'polish

a wax polish impregnated with a fracturing abrasive, apply a small amount to a cloth and press to the rotating blank, the abrasive will polish the blank to a very fine surface, overcoat with microcrystalline wax.
