PAIRC GYM IMPORTANT UPDATE

Since a temporary closure of the community gym at Kershader was put in place back in September due to additional requirements needing to be met for insurance purposes, Pairc Community Council had been working with the Pairc Trust to find a solution to keep the service operational. Regrettably, this has not been feasible due to the onerous requirements needed to satisfy the insurer, namely the requirement for the building to be manned during open hours. We are therefore notifying the community that a permanent closure of the gym will now take effect. Should any other groups in the area wish to discuss any solutions or alternatives, please do contact us asap. If any expression of interest could come to us by 15th May. The next steps we will take, should no solution be found, is to vacate the current premises and removal of equipment etc. We are sorry to be bearing this news and would like to thank all volunteers and community councillors, current and past, who have helped provide this service for the community over the years.

TIGH CEILIDH BUILDING

As can be seen from previous minutes of meetings, Pairc Community Council has  been pursuing a potential route for development of the Tigh Ceilidh, Gravir, to community housing through the pilot scheme of Tighean Innse Gall's (TIG) Empty Homes Scheme.

The outcome of this from our last meeting was that sale of the building to Pairc Trust was agreed. The development will be a partnership between Pairc Community Council, TIG and the Pairc Trust, ensuring the asset remains in community ownership, whilst delivering much needed housing in the district.

More information on the scheme can be found here - https://www.ruralnetwork.scot/.../new-partnership-help....

"TIG’s Rural Housing Burden provision will ensure that projects in the scheme will not be used as tourist accommodation or sold on at profit during the lifetime of the property."

This statement has been released to update the wider community as minutes from the previous meeting will not be released until after our next meeting at the end of January.
