League History

The past revisited, for fun.

Season 1987/88 . The League consisted of four divisions, a total of 47 teams.

Division One was won by The Station Hotel B team with a total of 101 points from 22 matches played.

Runners up were The Green Tree with 93 points.

Bottom two places and relegation went to The Three Horseshoes (79 points) and The Wheatsheaf ( 73 points)

Division Two winners were The Harewood Arms with 94 points from 20 matches, with the runers up being The Football Club. (86 points) . They were both promoted for the following season, along with third placed The Masons Arms (85), who took the place of the defunct Workies C team.

The bottom two were The Willow Tree with 75 points and The Fleece (69 points) The Willow Tree remained in Division Two the following season but The Fleece were relegated.

Division Three was won by The Blue Bell with 100 points and the runners up were York Trailers with 94 points. Third placed White Rose (91 points) were also promoted. 

Bottom two places were occupied by The Cat & Bagpipes (82 points) and The Bees Wing (70). Following the demise of the Beeswing team only The Cat & Bagpipes were relegated to Division four.

Division Four winners were The Waggon & Horses (97 points) and the runners up were The Black Horse (also 97). Promoted for next season along with theses two were The Durham Ox B and The Duke of Wellington.

The Leagues bottom spot was taken by The Black Bull (Smeaton) (77 points).
