Sadly, knife designer and creator Al Polkowski has passed away after fighting a long term illness.

Al was a legendary knife craftsman with decades of practical experience.  As well as designing his own creations, he also worked closely with several other "named" knife makers, most notably the late Bob Kasper (with whom he made the "pug",  the "Scorpion" and the "Companion" amongst others).

I had communicated with Al numerous times over recent years regarding a technical, tactical or historical piece of information or question in relation to knife designs.  A friend to the Modern Combatives Group, he was always accomodating, helpful and sincere in his replies.

The knife making community has indeed lost a dedicated and talented individual.
