On this anniversary of the D-Day landings, we at the Modern Combatives Group would like to pay tribute and remember those brave souls that fought for our freedom.  In particular we would like to pay homage to our old friend and teacher "Monty" Hughes and his family.

"Monty" as has been said in the past (see ECQ Handgun review) is the epitome of true British bulldog spirit, and even though he is now in his early 90's - he's still going strong!

Part of the Airborne forces, Monty and his mates went in by glider during the landings and he always has one or two good stories about those hair-raising days.  Not be outdone he was also present in Palestine in the latter part of war as part of the security forces leading up to independence in '48.

A great practioner of close combat and a crack pistol shot, we are lucky to have him as a friend, instructor and colleague.
