Got offered the 3 door fiesta at £330 a few days ago. Got there and had the car for £300. Had a interesting drive back from Birmingham with the clutch gone on the fiesta. 50mph was about the most I could get out of it before the clutch would start to slip. With no rev counter in the car I had to listen to hear if the revs would start to rise. Car looks ok front n/s wing needs sorting because it is bent. The only rust is surface on the n/s rear arch and the bottom of the boot lid about 30mm across. Basic 3 door model with windy windows std ford cd player.

I have not done much. Mainly because I’m lazy. Started to strip down the 1.6 silvertop engine so I can use a few of the bit on it. First off was the alternator bracket which also holds the power steering pump. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’m going to use the power steering pump and bracket off the Mondeo, I have cut the 1.6 bracket down to use it for the alternator and the tensioner. The water pump on the silvertop is slightly higher than the Mondeo pump which means the bracket will need cutting into to make it fit. I have a mate who can weld aluminium so I’ll mark out the section that needs cutting get his advice then take off as much as needed. The Mondeo only uses 2 of the threads for the a/c pump, the 2 threads below are there but they will need to be cleaned out from 15 years of dirt and rust. The alternator bracket will then be held on with 3 bolts. Removed the sump off the 1.6 along with the baffle plate and pick up pipe. Surprised how easy the sump was to come off compared to the Mondeo. ![]() ![]() Not going to use the baffle plate in the Mondeo engine, it needs 4 of the bolts changing that hold the crank in place and it sits that high that it shouldn’t make much difference through normal driving. A website has also confirmed that it should not be a problem. ![]() Going to use the flywheel off the 1.6. It is 215mm across not the 220mm I want but should be able to get it cleaned cheap ready for the larger clutch. The crank position sensor lines up correctly with no need to adjust it. Will need some new bolts before its put on for the final time. ![]() ![]() ![]() That’s really as far as I have got. The wife is working all weekend as well as the first F1 race, so I can’t see myself getting much done. Next will be to remove the wiring harness from the 1.6 fiesta once the Haynes manual arrives.

Due to the weather/kids and house updates I haven't done a lot at all. I have finally after 8 weeks had the tax back in the form of a healthy cheque Still selling bits of the car and i want to make some headway with that before i start on the 1.3 3 door. The flywheel has been taken to a machine shop to get it faced and also have a flange made to match up with the focus ST (i think) exhaust down pipe. This is so I can reach the std 1.6 exhaust system (for the time being). I have just got to get a cat from somewhere.
