Fiesta

So I’ve sold the sierra xr4x4 20/01/2014.

Gutted but at the same time getting excited about a project I’ve wanted to do. Hopefully using only the money from the sale of the sierra. My plan is to buy a fiesta 1.6 around 2000 age. I have a blacktop in the garage from my mate James. It used to be in his Mondeo T reg until a tyre garage put a hole in the floor pan and it wasn’t worth the cost to fix it. We took the Mondeo to work and set about removing stuff before scrapping it.

Engines good, been ragged a bit but the mileage was under 100k and it’s a good point to start an engine change.

Main point I need to do:

Change 1.6 engine to 2.0 Mondeo black top (and relevant changes)

Lowering or at least stiffening up the suspension.

Upgrade the front brakes and rest of system.

Repair rust (any car of that age is bound to have some)

 

Possible specs of finished project

Engine:  2.0 Zetec Blacktop phase 3

Engine Management: Use focus 2000 2lt ECU to run engine

Gearbox: possibly a diesel, they are not stronger but they have longer gearing for better fuel economy

Wiring: add circuits need but most will be done by the 1.6 fiesta wiring looms

Brakes: 260mm minimum from the Mondeo, braided hoses, rear discs, larger brake servo etc

Suspension: coilovers but will settle with new shocks and springs lowered 25mm

 

Extras

A/C: Sell on, good for demisting but it’s not an everyday car

Heated Front Screen: Keep

ABS: Keep if possible, may be able to use T/C if the engine ECU has it

Leather Seats: Keep, bit of comfort

Electric features: Keep
