ADDITIONAL LEARNING NEEDS...
There have been times whilst a child has been at Playgroup we have identified that they may have additional learning needs. These identifications are normally seen whilst the children are playing or doing activities. It is our job at Playgroup to provide an environment that is suitable for all and if an observation is made of this sort we will sit and discuss them further with you and if need be discussed with the child's Health Visitor in order to develop a plan for your child to succeed.
These observations are purely to determine which areas your child may need help in. It is our duty of care to provide support for such children with extra information, support and assistance coming for various local health boards and children's services.
If your child has been previously diagnosed with additional needs or has a pre-existing medical problem that requires your child to have extra support this will need to be logged on the registration form in order for staff to be aware and IDPs (Individual Development Plans) to be developed so that your child has the best possible start to their socialisation and education.
Laugharne Playgroup has an open door policy whereby you can approach a member of staff at any time in regards to your child. We aim support children and their families as a whole if required by offering referrals to other multiagency groups such as Home Start, Preschool Intervention Service (PINS) etc.
We do advise that we are kept up to date with your child's development or if any issues arise within the family in order for us to help your child through any transitions, this allows an idea in to how and why a child may be "behaving out of sorts" and helps us to determine how to help. These can be things like a new baby in the family, separation etc.
ALL information that is given to us is confidential and only passed on with permission from yourselves.
We cater for ALL children and ALL are welcome.
We aim to provide a safe, happy experience for your child in the hope they will continue what they have learnt and experienced from their time with us.
