History

Originally the Practice was based in Hunter Street in the Village Area of East Kilbride, but in 1973 we moved to the newly built Hunter Health Centre. The Health Centre was refurbished a few years ago, and the upstairs part is currently being rearranged and upgraded. We have recently installed a touch-screen check-in service, and the the Practice has become "paper-light". This means that we scan letters from hospitals etc into patients' computer records. The original paper documents are kept only for about six months, but we do still record our consultations on paper. There are four full-time GPs in the Practice; Drs Hay, Sonthalia, Sloan and Honings and one part time Gp Dr Colgan.  Our Practice area comprises East Kilbride, Thortonhall, Jackton, Auldhouse and their immediate environs.We have a computerised appointment and repeat prescription system, and prescriptions can be uplifted from the Practice by arrangement with some of the local chemists. Attached to our practice we have two District Nurses, one Health Visitor, a Dietician and two Practice Nurses. Within the Health Centre we also have access to Community Midwives, Physiotherapists,and Treatment Room Nurses. Clinics run by specialized nurses and doctors are also held in the Health Centre, covering such areas as Family Planning, Smoking Cessation, Addiction and Genitourinary Medicine. Internally, we run our own clinics in Diabetes, Heart disease, Stroke disease, Hypertension, Antenatal, Asthma/Bronchitis, Well Man/Woman/Baby and Travel Medicine. Dr Sonthalia runs a Wart Clinic where cryotherapy is used and we do some minor surgery.
