Lock People
The Lock is full of people who 'do stuff' & often they do it without us knowing - If you or someone you know has done or is doing something for charity or want to get the community involved in supporting 'your stuff' - Please let us know - Thank You
There will be a new 'Lock Person' soon - Click Here to find out who she is & what she wants help with on 'Who's Asking?

This 'Lockie' is ELAG's Chairman Dave Knight
Dave lives in Government Row at the 'bottom' of the Lock & he has chaired the Action Group (a feat in itself) for all of our years as an Association & has so far escaped having his picture anywhere (something he takes great pride in) - So here he is!

Dave has provided a steady & even hand on the Group's tiller for more than a decade & has steered it through some particularly eventful times & he has more than a few grey hairs as proof (something ELAG are keen to point out to him).
He has attended literally hundreds of meetings or 'Grand Days Out' as he calls them on the Lock's behalf most often with his Vice Chair Beth (they are a well known duo at the Council & in Enfield) - Sat through many hours of public enquiries (mostly on uncomfortable chairs) & has always argued the Lock's case with aplomb & the greatest courtesy (& never moaned about his bottom).
Despite Chairing the Group for 12 years & working in close & mostly harmonious tandem with ELAG's vociferous Vice Chair Beth Pedder (more a miracle than a feat) Dave has retained both his passion for the Lock & his sense of humour (as has the ELAG) - Another feat!
Dave is a long standing member of the local Conservation Group - The Local Angling Club & is a well known - popular & long-standing 'Lockie' having lived here over 25 years with his wife Cindy who is also a member of the Action & Conservation Groups (though not a keen angler) - They have two children Ben & Nicole.
Cindy has supported him & ELAG by petitioning & attending meetings & delivering leaflets as well as keeping his dinner warm & not minding too much for over a decade when meetings come first as they often have (at least it has kept Dave slim even if it turned him grey!).
She is a regular participant in the annual 'Enfield in Bloom' competition & is a regular winner - Last year she received another 'First Prize' for Government Row (we expect it is what she does when Dave is 'Gone Fishing' or at meetings).
We wish her luck for this year & we are sure Dave will arrange some fishing (& we know he has lots of meetings) to give her time for her gardening!
Dave is known to be passionate about the Lock - Local Campaigning & Fishing - In that order (or so he tells us).
He is pictured above in the
Greyhound Pub (the Lock's 'Community Centre') winning last years' Annual Lee Navigation
Championships.
He took the pool money (He kept that quiet) & trophy & tankard & truly had a 'Grand Day Out'.
Best of luck in the future & Thank You
Dave Knight will be at all 3 locations with the SNT next week - Details are on Meetings page - He will be there with Beth from 6-8pm
