WOODWORK

When using Power tools keep alert at all times. Do not abuse the tools because they can do you far more harm. Observe all safety precautions and health warnings. Care must be taken when using hand tools too. Saws have more teeth than an alligator but nobody uses alligators to saw timber! Health & Safety first.

Preparing Half joints on equal sized timbers. Measure twice and mark.  Saw halfway down across the grain with a tenon saw for smaller sizes and a crosscut saw for larger specimens. Now, in between the outside marke, saw down to almost halfway through.  With an appropriate sized chisel, pare through the timber until each half looks capable of accepting eaxh other tightly, then tidy up each half. Separate and spread PVA glue into recesses. Clamp together for an hour. This should provide a robust joint.
