It is with great sadness that I have to announce the very sad passing of one of our great supporters, namely Tim Crouch.  Yet another victim of this awful virus.

I knew Tim for over 10 years and as the many tributes posted on the English Chess Forum testify, he was a true gentleman and a great lover of our game.

I first met Tim during my time as one of the Organisers of 'Spectrum Chess'.  Before Tim had a stroke he had travelled to many a weekend congress and he liked mine because he could stay in the hotel venue and enjoy a pint (or two) in the bar, with friends, afterwards.

In the last few years his mobility had become limited but he still enjoyed turning up to many events and on his day could play much better than one might expect.

Our condolences to his family and friends.

We will miss him.  The chess world is the loser!  R.I.P. Tim.
