Local EventsColburn Youth Council – ‘Caught Red Handed’ On Wednesday 19th February 2014, NYCC Richmondshire Youth Support Service’s Colburn Youth Council did their own little bit for their local Community as they were ‘caught red handed’ in the act…of painting the local Grange Road Play Park in Colburn. Working with the Colburn Town Council who funded the paint job, the 4 members of the Youth Council, with support from YSS Youth Workers, voluntarily took up their paint brushes and began the task of turning the drab metal railings that surrounded the park into a more attractive bright red colour. The group meet weekly as part of a small youth forum, to discuss issues within their own community of Colburn, run small events for their peers and offer their support to local community projects, such as this one. A massive well done to Tiffany Robinson, Brittany Robinson, Nathan McCormack and Ryan Jackson for all their hard work! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Community Project Day Saturday 25th May 2013 Members of the Town Council supported by a group of Gurkhas are proposing to clean out the watercourse and cut back the overgrown foliage that runs from the shop on Colburn Lane to the bridge on St Cuthberts Avenue. This area was severely flooded last year. A wood shredder is being hired plus 2 skips for rubbish. All residents and friends are invited to join the working party from 1 pm. Suggest you come in boots with gardening gloves and anyone with secateurs, handsaws or long handled loppers would be appreciated. Refreshments provided. **************** CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON Wednesday 7th December 2011 at 4pm on The Broadway. COFFEE WITH A COUNCILLOR Meet at Wallachs on The Broadway to discuss any issues.
