At our April meeting we had a return visit from Alison Brown from Inverness who talked to us about research she has been doing for  her phD into murder, culpable homicides and assaults in the Highlands between 1840 and 1869.  She encouraged us to think of the social conditions prevalent at the time and the effect they may have had on the people.  She also gave us some grusome local examples of crimes and punishments.
