Our guest speaker this afternoon was Alex Du Toit from Lochaber Archives.  He briefly outlined the complex religious changes in Fort Augustus and told us that the Kirk Session records for Fort Augusuts, because we are in the Presbytery of Lochaber, are held in Lochaber, rather than in Inverness.  He then entertained us with extracts from the Kirk Sessions and highlighted some of the punishments handed out by the Kirk Session to those who broke the strick moral codes of the time.  Alex emphasised that all these records are available for us to look at in the archives, which are based in Lochaber College.  Where, incidently, you get a very good lunch for a very reasonable price!
