Maybe I'm safe for now from Universal Credit.
31 January 2018

My thanks to Simon who made a few useful comments in the guestbook regarding Universal Credit.  He pointed out that if you are in receipt of a legacy benefit such as JSA then you don’t need to switch to UC until the Managed Migration System is rolled out from july 2019.  If you have a change of circumstances then you will have to sign up to UC.  Of course a change of circumstances could mean anything and a work coach could try and create one.  It would be good to know what a change of circumstances or what the boundaries are regarding it.

I was sent on a course before Christmas to ACL in Severn Road, it’s about a five minute walk from St Davids Hospital as you walk away from the city centre.  It was for the over 50s and I was one of two people over 60  of the twelve starters in attendance.  The first three days involved discussing customer service and the next two were about health and safety.  The next week started with two days talking about interviews and on the Wednesday we were given half hour slots to turn up and have a mock interview.  We were then given some feedback on how our interview went.  It wasn’t bad for a course but just before Christmas wasn’t a good time.  Lucky the weather wasn’t as bad as forecast.

I am presently having a bit of eye trouble that has left me with a slight loss of sight in my left eye but hopefully it will clear up in time.
