Hi Denavardy,
Sorry for the delay in responding but I'm not sure about publishing phone numbers as I can't guarantee they are genuine. Sounds like you are not in Britain as funding for health is free here. I'm glad things are working out for you.

All the best,

Rob

JSA
Hello Rob, been a long time follower of your blog here I was just wandering if you've had the problem of showing jobs you apply for I'm a JSA claimant not UC so it's tricky. I print off my find a job service page but most of my jobs are found on indeed. I have been copying the link and pasting it on a document but now that's not good enough. Unfortunately not all employers send a confirmation of application email so I'm beging to feel slightly discriminated against because I'm not on universal credit. Have you ever experienced similar?

Hi, I'm sorry for the delay in responding. I'm still on JSA and having to take in copies of jobs that I have applied for. I mainly use totaljobs as that website sends confirmation emails as soon as I apply for any jobs. The emails also show my email address and date when I applied. I then go to the Jobcentre and print them off a day or so before my fortnightly appointment. I was told that I could show them on my phone but I've no intention of giving my phone to any work coach. Most of us still on JSA I expect are waiting for the latest moment before we sign up to UC. At the moment my copies are being accepted as evidence and they can hardly complain as the dates are on the emails. The only negative with totaljobs is that they send a lot of recommended jobs emails but deleting them is a small price to pay for confirmation of jobs applied for. I have registered with the find a job service but found they didn't have many jobs available but I still find the odd one that's worth applying for.

The work coaches are putting pressure on us but we have rights although it's important to avoid any kind of hostility in actions or words. Hopefully things will get better in the near future.

All the best,

Rob

Sign on Times
Just a quick question, Do you get moved advisor and time everytime you have to attend the job centre? Also why did they stop the fixed times like they previously used! Slightly fed up of going there getting a late time because they are struggling to find appiibtments! It just screams to me give each jobseekers$customer a set time.

Hi Joe,
Sorry about the delay in replying. I am in the same boat as you are regarding signing every fortnight and being given different times to sign. It could easily be an attempt to get people to forget to sign on time. I was told that many are going on courses to prepare for Universal Credit but they should be more organised than that. I have been given different advisors to see every fortnight and some names put in my booklet for appointments have been made up. They usually get a laugh from the people on the ground floor when I check with them. Every fortnight I take in photocopies of my email job confirmations but they never look at them. They just look through my booklet and sign it. My last two appointments have been after 4pm and it wasn’t nice walking in that heat. I would prefer a morning appointment but if you tell them what you prefer they might just make sure you sign late every time in the future. If they discover something you don’t like they will make sure they use it to make your life difficult. It’s best to go along with what they suggest and eventually they will give you earlier signing times. They have been very fair with me recently apart from the signing times, maybe it’s because of my age but as we all know we can all find ourselves with a work coach that doesn’t like us and then the good times are over.
All the best

Universal credit
I've been looking at your blog here for some time and never commented. But are you sure about being moved over to UC by February 2018 is definate. Ive researched it and existing clamins that have no change in them are not due to move until 2019 according to entitled to and citizens advice.

Hi Simon,
I'm sorry for the delay in replying. I sign at the Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff and they are putting claimants on Universal Credit in February 2018. It might be different for you depending on your location. I guess you have seen all the coverage of UC on the news and the suggestion that claiming a discretionary payment might be a good idea depending on your circumstances. I'm not sure how the housing benefit is going to work out.

All the best,

Rob

I attend the same jobcentre. It's irrelevant which jobcentre you attend. Have a quick look at turn to us or entiled too or even just google moving from jsa to uc and there is numerous websites clarifying that unless there is a change in your circumstances you will not move onto uc until at least July 2019 under the managed migration system. Another phrase you should reasearch. Your advisor os wrong about you moving. The jobcentre will be a full uc for all new claims in 2018 NOT current ones.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your comments, I have looked at the websites and you are correct. I have asked quite a few people since reading your comments and while they all agree they are a bit uneasy regarding the change of circumstances rule. If we can hold out against work coach pressure that would be fine but you know what pressure they can put on claimants. Thanks for your views as I wasn't aware of the Managed Migration Scheme before you mentioned it.

Regards,

Rob

Capgemini sloppily leaks
Hi Rob. I have been following your post for many years. They have been very informative. I came across this story today and thought it might interest you.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your post and the link, it was interesting to read. I guess we shouldn't be surprised to find that if they lose our data all we get is an apology. If they had to compensate us with real cash they would soon improve the security of our personal details. I remember having to learn the data protection act in the late 1990s while on a course but ever since they have been taking away our rights to keep our personal data private.

All the Best,

Rob
