Cardiff CastleThis is a picture of the back of Cardiff Castle. Not so inviting as the front but most people don't wander around to this more simplistic look of the castle. | The front of Cardiff Castle on a rainy day. |

Books from my childhood | Books about chessI played chess for many years and although the books I have are lacking in modern theory they still contain many fine games from the top players of the past. I stopped playing over eight years ago but might start again one day. Maybe these books will come in handy if I do. |

Ivalek Crystal Radio SetI have had this Ivalek set since the early 1960's and never actually managed to hear anything. The cats whisker inside still looks in good condition and I am tempted to try and find out if it works. | Subbuteo from 1972I have had this subbuteo since 1972, the year I left school so it was hardly used. It looked far too good to throw out so I kept it all these years. Just think, it's now forty years old. |

My old chess computerI bought this chess computer about 14 years ago and recently took it out of a cupboard to give it a dusting off. All those years ago I bought an adaptor to avoid buying loads of batteries and it was good to see that the computer still works. It's hard to assess the strength of these machines as usually they are rated above the true level. Of course they don't get tired so whatever level you play at we will all tire and make silly mistakes before they do. | Table tennis bat neglectedThis is a very sad photo of a table tennis bat I bought in the 1970s. I wasn't very good and when I put it away and left it in its packaging I thought I was looking after it. I made the silly mistake of leaving it in the box with its original plastic bag over it. Over the years the hot weather has made the bag sweat and eventually stick to the rubber on the bat leaving the rubber on both parts of the bat look as if it has melted and reformed. Some of the bat is fine but it is really sad to see something that I thought I was keeping in great condition ending up looking as if I should just throw it away. I noticed on the box that I had paid £4.20 for the bat in the 1970s. Looking back that sounds a bit expensive. |

A chess board from SpainI was given this chess board by an uncle in the early 1970s after he had gone on holiday to Spain. I had to buy a small set of wooden pieces to fit it. It's been in a cupboard for many years but it's quite a nice item. | The Spanish chess board openThis is a photo of how the board actually looks after it has been opened up. Both ends have a drawer to put the pieces. |

A useful vehicle for the disabled.I was walking along and saw this vehicle parked outside the Abbey National building in Cardiff's Hills St. Since then Abbey have been taken over and the Abbey building was demolished as part of the redevelopment in Cardiff. I think the blue disabled vehicle is great. | My one and only trip to LondonIt was 1974 and I caught a morning train to London with my father to go to the Hackney Greyhound sales at Hackney Stadium. My father did bid for a greyhound but didn't get it. We then went on to Wimbledon to take in the greyhound race meeting. This photo shows the sales catalogue for Hackney and the Wimbledon racecard, both from 1974 and still in reasonable condition. |

Roath Park Lake in Cardiff.I took this photo as I was walking around Roath Park Lake on a gloomy day and the grey duck looking at me appeared to stand and stare at me for ages. It's one of my favourite photo's and if you click on one of the photo's on this page the photo will enlarge and the beauty of this duck will be more appreciated. I'm saying it's a duck but I'm no expert. | Arnold Palmer Golf GameNo I'm not a toy collector but when I moved from a three bedroom house to a one bedroom flat eighteen years ago I decided to keep a few things that had been kept in cupboards for many years. I was given this game around 1968 and some forty five years later it is still in good condition. Arnie wearing the blue top is still working well. The game some years later was reproduced but Arnie is wearing a red top in the more recent version. Amazingly all the pieces and balls are still in the box although the box does have some blemishes. |

My one and only Outer Limits card from 1964I have no idea why I have kept this Outer Limits card from 1964. It isn't in the best condition and the older I get the more I look like it. | A piece of costume jewellery well over 50 years old. This item, just over an inch and a quarter in length and a small hole near the top was kept in a drawer along with knives and forks and even clothes pegs. It's made of glass with a type of resin in the shape of a flower pasted onto it. Every five years or so I look at it for a few minutes. It really is beautiful when the light hits it and the photo doesn't do it justice. It might not be worth anything but it has real beauty and stands out in the light. |

Part of the complaint typed by Sue Hayes I had no idea of the surname of Lloyd who I complained of bullying me at Tenovus. I guess I should thank Sue Hayes from Tenovus for letting me know. | An old postcard from the 1960s.This is an old postcard from the 1960s looking down from Cardiff Castle. You can see Queen St before it was made into a pedestrianised area. |

These are cards from the television series The Champions in the 1960s. I have 22 of the cards but they are not in great condition. Well they are over 45 years old.

My greyhound Magazines from years gone by.I have a fair number of greyhound Magazines from the 1970s to the early 1980s. I just feel that they are too good to throw away.Am I a hoarder? I don't think so. | I had forgotten that I still had these badges from my childhood. The tiny badge I bought on a school trip in the 1960s to Holland. It says Madurodam on the badge so I guess that is where I bought it. |

Polaroid instant camera.I bought this camera around 1990 and only used it for a short while. It had been in its box for well over twenty five years.
