You have got to look out for those texts.
16 September 2017

Not much to update on apart from a text from the DWP informing me of an appointment at the Jobcentre.  I usually receive a text from the DWP a couple of days before my signing date but on this occasion it was reminding me of an appointment that I had no idea about.  Of course I immediately phoned up the 0345 number on the text to ask about it.   The guy on the other end of the phone was very polite and told me that no appointment was booked for that date and he advised me not to attend and would put on my file a note stating that he had advised me not to turn up at the Jobcentre for that appointment.  The call cost me over four pound of my mobile credit.   Looking back it might have been better to have contacted the Jobcentre.

Those texts can be useful but on occasions clearly it can cost you money.  You can’t ignore texts stating appointments because if you miss one then your benefit will be stopped.
