Watch Out, Community Work Placements are not far away.
12 May 2015

I arrived at the Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff a few minutes before my signing time and was called over by my Work Coach.  I was half expecting to be given a revised Claimant Commitment as the last time I saw her she was going to reduce my jobsearch from seven days to five.  She didn't mention it so I didn't either.  She did mention training courses at Marland House and made me write it in my Work Plan booklet for me to research them and also look into Community Work Placements.  I discovered that these are being pushed by Working Links and I'm not keen to have anything to do with them again but it looks likely that I will.  As I am fairly cooperative my Work Coach is treating me well for now.  It does look like a Community Work Placement might well be coming my way but I live in hope that it will not be soon.  Of course I will report on here if it happens and who with, if I am going on a placement against my will then I want the whole world to know about it.  The Marland House courses are mainly just basic computer courses and maths and english.   They are part time and appear to be very basic.   The staff at the Jobcentre appear very happy, to be honest they are well paid for the work they do as the pace is very slow and a private employer would probably regard them as a bit lazy.   Then again the tax payer is paying for them and a private employer would want to get more from them.
