Eventually it all went smoothly.
04 December 2014

I went along to Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff for my fortnightly signing and a woman was shouting at one of the staff at the entrance. A young guy was also raising his voice as I entered. I wasn't sure if the staff member was a security guard or a member of the Jobcentre staff. I made my way to the area where I was expecting to be called and sat down. It was about five minutes before my signing time and just over a quarter of an hour later a woman sitting at one of the desks noticed that I had been waiting for some time and asked me for my details. She looked on her computer and saw the name of my work coach and went to the desk where my work coach was and was told that I was supposed to be signing today at a different desk. The young woman took my signing card over to the woman at that desk and within a couple of minutes my name was called. My work plan booklet was signed and I noticed that the letter with the ten questions that I had to answer was still in my file but I couldn't see any copies of my bank transactions that were taken last week. The lady who noticed that I had been waiting did a good job and the lady who did my signing also did her job with efficiency and politeness. As I left the Jobcentre I noticed a police car was parked outside. I've no idea what happened to the young woman or the guy who were shouting earlier. When people are shouting at staff it usually means that they are on the receiving end of some kind of sanction or benefit doubt. I wish them good luck and hopefully it will all be sorted out amicably.
