I thought for a second it was going to be a quick fortnightly signing today at the Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff. I arrived three or four minutes early and was called about ten minutes after my official signing time. The lady who signed me was very polite and didn't even look at my UJM account on her computer. Then just as I was getting ready to leave she gave me a "Notification of Appointment" letter. It states that I have to attend next week and bring with me some form of identification and any bank statements I have. I also have to write in the answers to some questions on the back of the letter and bring it with me. I have to bring with me any jobsearch activity covering the last two weeks although it is all recorded on my UJM page. The appointment is to be held on the ground floor. Question five of the ten that have to be answered doesn't appear to have been put together properly. It states, Do you own any other property,other than your own home?Well, I don't even own my own home and live in a one bedroom council flat. That is the only question relating to property and doesn't even mention renting or housing benefit which is paid directly to the Council. I will report back on here how things go at the appointment. It's probably a way for them to do some snooping and cause some stress. I've been unemployed for quite a while and they know my circumstances. A life of poverty with nothing to look forward to apart from a little more food on benefit pay day.
