Everything went smoothly today. 28 August 2014 I have a feeling that I walked a bit faster than usual today as I went to the Jobcentre for my fortnightly signing. No security guards were at the entrance as I arrived but I did notice one well inside the Jobcentre. On my way towards the area on the ground floor where I usually sign a member of staff asked me for my appointment time. This was probably to do with the intention to make sure no one enters more than ten minutes before their appointment. As I was only five minutes early I was given the nod to proceed. I sat down and waited and was called roughly five minutes after my signing time. It was fairly quiet in the Jobcentre and more staff were in attendance than claimants. The lady who called me had signed me a few times over the last few months and as usual she did a good professional job and was very polite. She had a look through my work plan booklet and signed it. I was asked whether my circumstances have changed and I replied "No, I'm still poor". I was asked how things went at the Jobsfair last week and the "Discover Your Potential" course. I did say that they were okay and the lady taking the course was very good and I was allowed to complete my fortnightly signing. On my way out I did notice a few more security guards scattered around but not in a group as they used to be. They still have not put in the promised new computers and all the phones have been taken out. The phones are a bigger loss for the claimants. On a number of occasions in the recent past I asked for information at the reception desk and was given a phone number to ring and pointed in the direction of the phones. Now they would probably give me a phone number and point me in the direction of the door and phone calls are very expensive when they keep you hanging on. It looks like another way to upset the claimant and make life difficult. They should be making it easier to contact employers and claim benefits but the reverse is true. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
