Another fruitless jobsearch.
15 July 2014

I have just been into my UJM account and did a jobsearch to see if any new real jobs had been posted today. It automatically comes up with jobs within 20 miles and that total was over 13,000 so I narrowed it down to today only as I have been on everyday and seen all the previous vacancies. This narrowed it down to 220 job vacancies. As I was scrolling through them I noticed the same employer was repeatedly appearing in the list. The employers name was Newport Sevacare and they were looking for Care Workers. Of the 220 jobs posted, 52 of them were from Newport Sevacare looking for Care Workers. They started every job advert off by saying they were looking for someone in a certain locality and then adding "and all surrounding areas". They had put an email address down for people to contact them and I was tempted to give them a piece of my mind as putting up 52 new postings when one advert asking for care workers around the Newport area would have been good enough. Of course it is pointless contacting them unless you want a job in care work as so many so called companies are doing the same. Even worse they would probably contact the Jobcentre if someone complained to them and that could result in a good reason for them to get someone sanctioned as abusing a potential employer could be seen as not wanting to work. The two jobs that I recently applied for that were advertised by Cardiff Council did not end up with me being shortlisted for but that is no surprise. In the past whenever a job was created to give someone who is unemployed a year or so of work they never even gave me an interview. I recently had my fortnightly signing time changed by five minutes and although my signing time has been changed many times over the years it still doesn't make much sense. I can understand changing a time from morning to afternoon but five minutes is very odd. I have been signing on the ground floor at Charles St Jobcentre for several months now and they change my time by five minutes so someone else will now be signing at my previous time. It is worrying that some people will forget that they have a new signing time and end up arriving a bit late and not receiving their benefit entitlement for that fortnight. I'm going to write the time down in big letters on a big piece of paper and put it on my sideboard so that I don't forget. Maybe I should put a sign on all my doors so that I can't go anywhere without seeing it. I have managed to apply for seven jobs so far this fortnight and hopefully I will find one or two more before I have to attend the Jobcentre.
