Sunday morning and I'm doing jobsearch.
11 May 2014

I have just completed my jobsearch on this sunday morning and in truth it isn't really worth it. We all know that the jobs they load on UJM on a sunday are old ones that quite often have closing dates that have gone even though they have new job reference numbers and have todays date. I do jobsearch on a sunday besides all the other days of the week for one reason. When I'm sitting in front of the person at the Jobcentre I like to be able to keep a straight face and look them in the eye and if they ask, I can honestly say that what is recorded is true. I don't like bluffing people even though many staff at the Jobcentre do say ridiculous things to me. One guy who was my advisor for a short while on the so called Post Work Programme support told me that everyone could get a job easily and suggested that all two million plus people could find work in a week even though officially only a quarter of the jobs needed are available. Most of those jobs don't exist and now that guy is officially called a Work Coach. He will say what he has to say in order to keep his job and sadly the unemployed will have to be on the receiving end of those kind of statements for a long time to come. I respect people who say it the way it is but I can't respect people who talk crap but as they have the power to sanction people we have to respond to such statements almost with an air of acceptance. If we disagree with them we have to be cautious of the backlash. I do tend to respond in a negative way to silly comments but I don't allow myself to swear or threaten anyone. It's important not to give them any reason to sanction you. When I looked on UJM this morning, 91 jobs had been posted today within 20 miles of Cardiff. They were mainly posted by CVlibrary and Reed. I guess the total has increased by now. I wonder if they have someone working from home posting loads of non existent jobs online between munching on a piece of toast.
