It isn't always easy to recognise someone. 28 March 2014 I went along to the Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff for my fortnightly signing. As I entered the building I showed my signing card to one of the two security guards and he nodded so I just walked in and sat opposite the lady who has seen me for two of my last three signings. The young guy who said he was my new advisor two weeks ago was busy dealing with another customer. A few minutes after my signing time I heard my name called by a woman. She was sitting at the desk next to the lady I was expecting to call me. She asked me how my jobsearch was going and I replied that I had managed to find eight jobs to apply for. I told her that it was all recorded online and I also had a paper copy with me. She allowed me to sign and as she was on the computer I began to realise that she looked familiar. I looked around and saw a couple of photos and began to realise that she was my advisor when I first started on the Post Work Programme Support in June last year. I had complained about her bullying tactics and misleading me over my rights. I decided not to ask any questions regarding the matter just in case it wasn't her and also I don't see any point in opening up old wounds when nothing good can come from it. She was in fact very polite and efficient at my signing and she signed my paper copy of job activities. It was all over in a couple of minutes and off I went. When I got home I decided to look at some of the old job activity lists that the advisor had signed when I was having to go up to the first floor to see her and the initials matched with the copy she had just signed. I'm glad that I didn't ask about my previous experiences. I'm going to draw a line under them and move on and if I see her again, if she does her job as efficiently as she did yesterday then I will have no complaints. All I want of people who work at Jobcentres is to be fairly treated and allowed my rights. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
