A new advisor, I wonder who it will be? 30 January 2014 Today was my fortnightly signing day at Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff. After the last appointment I had with my personal advisor Steve I wasn't looking forward to it. At the entrance on the ground floor I showed my attendance card to one of the three security guards that were near the doors and then went to the first floor and showed the card again to the security guard at the first floor reception desk. He pointed in the direction of Steves desk and so I walked over and waited for about five minutes. At 11am on the wall clock he called me over. We exchanged a few words but I kept myself fairly quiet as I felt that he has behaved badly towards me and has made some ridiculous statements, and I thought it best to let him get on with whatever he has to say rather than interrupt him. He gave me three pieces of paper detailing Universal Jobmatch with a sentence highlighted that says that information recorded on your public CV will be used to return anonymous matches. This was in response to our last meeting when I said the information is free for all to see and isn't hidden as suggested. Who is right? Eventually we will all find out and I have a feeling that I will be right regarding public CV's and that in fact all information is open to public view. He did not issue me with a direction to make my CV public but it is possible someone might in the future. I did mention that I have put a complaint in against him and he replied in so many words that any complaint will be dealt with and he was just concentrating on helping me find work. Not entirely his words but he was trying to make it sound as if it won't affect him doing his job. That's good as this was my signing day and I hope he does his job as he says. He took a photocopy of my list of jobs applied for over the last two weeks although he was looking on my UJM account. No mention was made of changing my Jobseekers Agreement as he suggested last week and surprisingly he also said that he was giving me a new attendance card and signing time. This followed with being told that I was going to have a new advisor but he left the name space on the card blank as it appears he doesn't know at this time who it is. I am also signing in two weeks time with the masses on the ground floor. That suggests that I have ended my time on the Post Work Programme Support course. At the end of our meeting Steve asked me if I needed any help to find work and I suggested that my exit report from Working Links was right and all I need was an actual interview for a real job. When I emailed my complaints last week to Jobcentreplus they usually take five to fifteen days to deal with and after receiving the automated response I thought that I would receive an email asking me for more personal information but I guess they do have my name,Jobcentre,Post Work Programme and Steve as my personal advisor and from that information they should be able to find me on their computers if they made any kind of effort. When they do eventually contact me I will continue my complaint as no one should receive bad treatment or bullying. If I get the opportunity to speak to the manager of the Jobcentre then I will take up the opportunity. It would be pointless speaking to the first floor manager Jenny Harking as I am fully aware of how badly she treated me when she was my advisor many years ago. Although every Jobcentre manager is going to defend their staff in most circumstances it's important to at least make an effort to stand up for your rights and for the people who don't have the nerve to do it as they will be walked all over unless some of us speak out. | ![]() |
