Not the quickest way to apply for a job. 22 January 2014 My advisor at the Jobcentre told me last week that I would have to apply for the Customer Service Advisor vacancy with British Gas online so this morning I applied and got it over with. As I have to go in and see him later this week to discuss it at least I can say it's all done. If anyone is interested in these call centre jobs with British Gas then you can type in www.britishgasjobs.co.uk and this will take you to the jobs page. You can search by putting Cardiff in the location box and hey presto you will be able to read the information. Then once you have typed in your email address and created a password you can start completing the application. One thing that might be of interest to some people is that British Gas have a question early on asking whether you have left the armed forces in the last couple of years suggesting that they are big supporters of them and that might gain some favour in the selection process. Part of the application is an online assessment which mainly is in the form of multiple choice answers and you have a certain amount of time to complete them. Although I said yesterday that the guy from British Gas said that at the moment they don't try to sell services to customers but that it might change in the future, one of the questions was regarding being prepared to sell over the phone and I said yes as the alternative would look like I was being negative. I use a windows98 computer and old browsers so I quite often have to wait for scripts to stop on a web page but even so it took well over one and a half hours to complete this morning. I have also applied for another job today and recorded it on UJM. I know full well that call centres are not my cup of tea but I did my best in my application. I will report on here what my advisor at the Jobcentre decides to make me do next. I use the word "make" as any negativity seems to lead to comments that can be taken as refusing an opportunity and that is a sanction threat. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
