Because of the christmas holidays I don't have to sign again at the Jobcentre for four weeks. It's very easy to get carried away with christmas and forget the minimum requirements needed to keep receiving JSA. If people do forget to keep up to date records it will be fairly easy for the Jobcentreplus staff to find reasons to impose sanctions after christmas. I personally will at least make a daily effort and record it online besides writing it down. If no jobs are around to apply for then you can simply update the skills base on UJM. At least it's an activity that will automatically register itself on the activity log. Even just typing a note in the activity log of websites visited will be useful. Thankfully my JSA was paid a day earlier on monday. I remember a minor incident that occurred last week when I saw my new personal advisor Steve for the first time. He took my file with him when he went to get me the printed copy informing me of the British Gas Workshop day in January but with it he took my signing card. I have no idea why he put it in the file and took it with him when he went for that photocopy. He showed no sign of returning it so I asked for it back. That might seem unimportant but I remember recently reading a statement stating that a claimant would not be allowed to sign without their signing card. If I had said nothing it would have been interesting to find out what would have happened the next time I sign but I'm all for the quiet life and if you can avoid hassle then surely that's the best way to live.
