Service today was excellent
05 December 2013

I arrived at Charles St Jobcentre today for my fortnightly signing with two minutes to spare. I showed my signing card to the guy at reception on the first floor and he directed me to the desk where I would sign. As I approached the two nearby job terminals I only had time to notice that they were not operating before my name was called. I turned around and saw a young man heading to the desk where I was told to sign. He politely and efficiently completed my fortnightly signing and told me to sign at the same time in a fortnight. I was half expecting to be called for a chat with my new personal advisor. In two weeks time my six months on the Post Work Programme scheme will be over after completing two years on the Work Programme with Working Links at Golate House. The new year will more than likely see me signing on the ground floor again. Anyone who has viewed my experiences over the last six months might think that it wasn't very intensive but it's very difficult to do much for someone like myself who has been on countless courses for the unemployed. Unless benefit payments around christmas are paid early I will find myself receiving it on christmas eve and that won't make it easy to pay bills and get food before christmas day as many shops close early and shelves get emptied very quickly. I'm going to make sure in future that I arrive at the Jobcentre at least five minutes early. I say that because when I looked at my watch on entering the Jobcentre I was a little concerned and to hear my name called so quickly did surprise me. I'm not too keen on surprises.
