Hello, Goodbye and Hello to another Personal Advisor.
21 November 2013
I went along to Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff today for my appointment with my new personal advisor Ryan. As I approached the entrance to the Jobcentre I noticed that two security guards were standing either side of the entrance. I walked in and as none of them approached me I just walked to the door leading to the staircase to the first floor and showed my letter to the person on reception on the first floor. I was directed to the area where Ryan was and waited to be called. I heard my name and walked over to his desk and sat down. Ryan came across very well, he was polite in a friendly way and although it is impossible to tell what a person is like on the back of just one appointment he did his job well. He let me complete my fortnightly signing at the start of the appointment and then told me that this would be the first and last appointment I would have with him as my personal advisor as he will be doing a different job in the near future. I guess the job will still be at the Jobcentre. He said that my new advisor will be someone called Steve. Ryan then gave me a letter stating that from the 9th December a change will be made to how they arrange appointments. He explained that instead of receiving a letter in the post they would arrange the appointment after a person has completed their signing at the Jobcentre. This means that just in case they give you a mandatory advisor interview you should allow another twenty minutes or so for your signing. I am in agreement with this idea as it will avoid people missing appointments and stop quite a few sanctions for not attending an appointment if a letter goes missing. I was not given an appointment to see my new personal advisor Steve so unless he calls me over after my next fortnightly signing he will only have one more chance before my six months after completing the Work Programme are over and I am sent back to the ground floor to sign fortnightly with the masses.
