At last UJM is back online.
03 November 2013

I tried a few times today to access my UJM account but it was unavailable for a few hours. Eventually it was up and running and I managed to put in my activity list a job that I applied for today from the Totaljobs website. We all know that the main reason for UJM is to snoop on people and try and stop people turning up every fortnight to sign with a list of jobs they had written down the day before. The UJM website dates every job applied for using UJM and also dates the activity log. It would not be a good idea to list a load of jobs on one day and nothing for the rest of the fortnight. I noticed that quite a few websites mention that if people get sanctioned they should go to the council and complete a nil income form and that should enable them to continue to receive housing benefit. I don't know how true that is but it does show that claimants should be given a booklet of some kind informing them of all the options available to them if they are sadly sanctioned. Information on food banks, crisis loans and any benefits that could be given to anyone who has been sanctioned should not be kept secret. My experience over the last few months since I completed two years on the Work Programme has not been a good one. Bullying by advisors should never be allowed although I have to say that I have met many jobcentre staff who do a good and fair job. I have my personal advisor appointment later this week and I will report back on here how it goes.
