A tick can save a lot of time. 13 October 2013
I don't know why but for some reason I decided on wednesday night for the first time ever to tick the box on my UJM account to allow access. I went along to Charles St Jobcentre on thursday for my fortnightly signing and the first thing I was asked for was the email address for my UJM account. Although I had brought along with me a paper copy of my efforts I gave my email address and everything went smoothly. When I got home I unticked the box and the next time I am due to sign I will probably tick the box the night before my signing day. In fact my next appointment at the Jobcentre is with my advisor on my signing day. Four months will have been completed since my two years with Working Links on the Work Programme. Although we don't have to allow access it does save a lot of time and is probably okay just for signing. It is more than likely a snooping exercise and the people in the past who just completed a list of activities the day before signing will get caught out. By looking on a UJM account they can see the dates that people actually recorded their efforts and if the paper copy doesn't support those dates they could be in trouble. Although I go on the websites looking for jobs quite a bit I don't always log into my UJM account and in those circumstances, if I can't find a job to apply for I will probably log in and put a note in the activity box just to show that I was online looking. My six months on the post Work Programme support scheme at the Jobcentre will be over by christmas and it will be interesting to find out if I will be left alone until april when the so called work for benefits might start.
