I went along to Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff on thursday for my fortnightly signing. I am still signing on the first floor where the post work programme people go. I was asked for some form of identification, I didn't have any so I had to tell the woman my address and date of birth. She did her job well and signed my paper copy of my jobsearch details. She did inform me that I had not given access to my UJM account and I offered to let her see it but she said that she was unable to update it. I did say that my advisor had told me that she could see it anyway. I was reminded that I have a session on volunteering on thursday 3rd October, this session is supposed to be different from the one I had to attend previously. I noticed that one of the security guards was standing facing the room with his back to a window and usually they are all gathered around reception or walking around rather than static as if he was guarding something important. For some strange reason it looked very odd to me and I'm used to seeing the security guards as most people are so I've no idea why it looked strange to me. I then left and walked home in the rain. Going back to my visit to the Alexandra House Jobcentre for that casual christmas job interview with the Royal Mail,I didn't realise that when they say they will email you it simply means that they will send a message to your alert box that you can see if you log in to your Royal Mail account. I didn't receive any contact from them and suddenly found a number of emails in my alert box. Then unexpectedly I did receive an email from them that got through to my actual email account asking me to log in and book an interview time. This left me wondering why I had not received all the alerts directly to my email account. Although it didn't go well for me at the original interview, I was told that I could apply again so I thought I had better. I now have an appointment a week tuesday but this time it is being held at the Royal Mail sorting office in Penarth Road. Another hour long walk and knowing my bad luck it will be with the same guy who saw me last time. It will be an experience and at least I have applied for this temporary vacancy after my personal advisor originally put me forward for it. The fact that I was asking for benefit advice to clear up a few points at my previous interview shouldn't be used against me. The one thing I do find difficult to accept is giving my bank details to someone before they have offered me the job. Why should anyone give bank details for a one off temporary vacancy before they have actually been given the job? After all these jobs don't start until 18th November so we have plenty of time if successful to give our bank details.
