Been rejected? I know how it feels. 12 September 2013
I completed my twenty minute walk to Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff this morning for my appointment with my personal advisor. She signed the paper copy of my jobsearch activity that was also online on UJM. I then completed my fortnightly signing and she gave me another session to attend regarding voluntary work. This session is supposed to be taking place on the 3rd October in three weeks time. She said that it was a different session to the voluntary session I had attended a while ago. I was reminded about the Jobsfair at the City Hall next Wednesday (18th September)that I have been directed to attend. I was given a list of websites and I was also asked whether I would consider voluntary work. I replied that as I have completed a number of work placements that did not lead to a job I would rather do a work trial of some kind that had the prospect of employment at the end of it.
My next appointment to see my personal advisor is on 24th October, that is six weeks from today and I was told to attend at my usual time to complete my fortnightly signings on the next two occasions.
I mentioned on here recently that I had applied for a despatch operative vacancy on 30th August and received a rejection email on 10th September. That very day the job came up again so I applied for it on 10th September and would you believe it I received a rejection email later that day from the same person. That job was only posted on 10th September so it was a bit quick to be rejected and the email stated as it usually does that they would keep me on file in case a suitable vacancy came up. We all know that in reality agencies won't touch the long term unemployed because they need people with recent work history and work experience doesn't count for much unless it is actual paid work. At least I made the effort and I will continue to apply for any jobs that I am capable of doing.
When I see my personal advisor again on 24th October it will be four months since I completed two years on the Work Programme.
