15 August 2013

Today I went along to Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff for my appointment with my personal advisor. It was also my signing day and the first thing that happened was my advisor apologising for sending me to the interview session that I attended last week for the second time. I was given another session to attend in two weeks time on Barriers to Work and she told me that as it will be my fortnightly signing day, that after the session I can go along to see her and she will complete my signing. I just asked her what would happen if sadly she breaks a leg or isn't here in two weeks time for some reason, who would sign me as it would just be my word as I would be trying to sign some two hours later than my official time. She said that she would be here and hopefully will be but I don't like uncertainty and I would have preferred to have had it in writing so I could show it at reception. I was also told that as so many people are returning from the Work Programme she will in a month or so be taking the sessions herself in groups of twelve. I did have on the desk my list of jobs applied for but she didn't even bother looking at it or signing it and I am getting the feeling that she does have access to my Universal Jobmatch Account as she didn't ask me to go to a computer and log in either. Although I have to apply for a minimum of two jobs a week I had in fact applied for thirteen over the fortnight. On the first floor where the returners from the Work Programme have to go to see their advisors they have three computers in the corner and two of them were occupied while I was waiting to be seen. One guy who was waiting to see an advisor was walking with the aid of crutches and I guess he was in the late 50s to early 60s age range. I am almost up to two months of the six months that returners from the Work Programme have to endure and that means that the week leading to christmas will be six months completed. It will be interesting to see what happens after that and I will report back on here what happens at the Barriers to Work session that is on Thursday 29th August.
