Just one more appointment to go.
25 May 2013
I went along to the Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff on thursday to complete my fortnightly signing and was told that my next signing date was in four weeks time on the 20th June because they might be on strike in two weeks time on the 6th June. I then went along to Working Links for my appointment on the Work Programme that recently has coincided with my signing day. I casually mentioned that I don't have to sign in two weeks time and I was given my next appointment for four weeks time to again coincide with my next signing at the Jobcentre. I didn't really mind turning up in two weeks but I guess it saves me a trip. My official date for completing my two years on the Work Programme is the 24th June so my next appointment will be my last and then I will be subject to whatever the government decide to do with people who have completed the Work Programme and remained unemployed. It's always a worry when you don't know what the future holds. I will continue to record my jobsearch and applications made although no one is going to be looking at it for four weeks. I did notice that it was quite full in the Working Links office on thursday. They don't appear to need security guards like the Jobcentre does so maybe people are accepting to a point that governments have to be seen doing something to reduce the unemployment figures even if it means wasting billions of pounds. I'm sure the money could be better spent and without the threat of sanctions or misleading information intent on creating hostility against decent people who are unfortunately unemployed. Whatever happens to me I will report on here.
