Universal Jobmatch Alerts 20 April 2013 For over a week I had an alert on my Universal Jobmatch home page stating that I had not taken any action over my recommended jobs for the last five days and to check my email. In fact I had applied for seven jobs during that time and all from the recommended lists. Three of those were applied for by sending my CV through the Universal Jobmatch website. I had also looked through many dozens of vacancies and on one day alone I logged in to the website on three occasions to look at vacancies. I clearly was taking action and I felt that the alert was insulting and so I used the contact link at the bottom of the Universal Jobmatch page to contact the DWP and inform them of the problem. They are supposed to contact you back within 24 hours and they did. I received an email, very politely worded and given some suggestions on how to remove the alert. I logged into my Universal Jobmatch home page to find that the alert had been taken off. I don't know if the DWP managed to remove the alert or the website just started working properly. These alerts seem to appear at regular intervals regardless of how often you go through the recommended lists but imagine if you attended the Jobcentre and a member of staff noticed the alert and took it at face value. They could presume that you have not been bothering and raised a sanction doubt and not bother checking to see that you have in fact applied for jobs using the Universal Jobmatch site. Many people make mistakes that can cause distress to honest decent people but maybe I'm a bit too cautious. I don't like the idea of an alert stating something that is untrue when it could lead to problems for me so I felt that I had to send my comments to the DWP as a way of highlighting a problem that the website has but also of a way of protecting myself by drawing attention to the fact that I apply for many jobs and I am looking through the recommended lists of jobs on a daily basis. | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
