Thank goodness I'm a cautious person and my lack of confidence in other people got the better of me. I am due to go to Charles St Jobcentre in Cardiff tomorrow for my fortnightly signing. The last time I signed the lady at the desk told me not to turn up next time at my usual morning time but to attend at 4pm as my personal advisor wants to see me concerning the issue. I had no idea what the issue was but she was really just trying to bully me into registering for Universal Jobmatch and I actually have registered and applied for a few vacancies using the system. I was going to turn up at 4pm tomorrow but I decided to phone up today to confirm the appointment. At 3pm the Jobcentre did not respond after the lady put me through and I was asked if I would phone back as they must be busy. I was going to leave it but decided to phone back a bit later and the man who answered did a good job and told me that the 4pm appointment had been cancelled and for me to attend as usual in the morning. If I had not phoned for confirmation I would have turned up at 4pm tomorrow and a security guard would not have seen my name on any list of appointments so I would have had to explain to someone on reception that I was given that appointment by the lady who works at the desk where I usually sign without any proof on paper of the 4pm appointment. The man who answered the phone and did a good job today mentioned something about availability for work and that is a worry although I apply for many jobs and attended my Working Links appointment on tuesday. I will report back on here what happens at my signing. I am concerned that they did not bother to contact me regarding the cancelled appointment.
