I always prefer it in writing 31 January 2013 On Tuesday at working links I was asked again if I could think of anything that he could help me with as I am approaching the last six months of my two year stint on the work programme. I did remark that he could contact employers on my behalf to see if he could obtain a work trial for me that could lead to a job but it seems that I should be doing that for myself. They used to spout that they had contact with employers but the reality is I am ready for work, prepared to be flexible regarding employment, never miss appointments and was on time but they have not been able to obtain a work trial or interview in over 18 months for me. I am now due back for my next working links appointment in a couple of weeks. I went to Charles St Jobcentre today for my fortnight signing and was told that my advisor wants to see me regarding the issue and my appointment will be in two weeks time on my signing day but at 4pm instead of my usual morning time. I was surprised not to receive a letter stating this appointment because my only proof of this next appointment is by word of mouth so if the appointment is a mistake then I could be accused of missing my next signing. I can only presume that the issue mentioned is my negativity towards Universal Jobmatch but as I have signed up for it and it can be checked that I have it is a bit confusing. In the real world the unemployed struggle to survive on £71 a week and I am no exception. My keyboard has started to play up after 12 years of use and several of my alphabet keys and my numeric number pad have stopped working. I have to copy and paste certain letters and numbers from a document file to fill in the gaps after typing. I use a windows 98 computer and next week I hope to buy a keyboard in currys or argos for under £10, this is the way most of us on benefit have to live. | ![]() |
