I am surprised how many people on benefits are still unaware of the changes to council tax benefit that will affect them from april 2013. Unless Councils make employed people pay more council tax they will have to claim some payment from the unemployed who will not be seeing a rise in benefits to cover the cost. A way of bringing back the old poll tax of Mrs Thatchers and blaming the councils instead of the government taking the blame. When I go to the jobcentre later this week I am expecting to receive some mention of Universal Jobmatch which I will decline to register for now. I'm sure that I will eventually have to sign up as the pressure is put on me as losing benefits through a sanction is something I can't afford. It's possible that changes will be made to Universal Jobmatch in the long term. I had a feeling that on my most recent appointment at Working Links the consultants were talking in a more bullish manner. It was just an impression and maybe with the jobcentre getting more aggressive with claimants they might be finding the majority of people towing the line rather than being hostile. I'm all for going along with most things but if you feel that anyone is being unfair to you always speak up because no one is going to speak up for you.
