Looks a bit cramped these days 29 October 2012 The last few occasions that I have attended Working Links at Golate House the office has looked very cramped. The reception area where you sit while waiting looks tiny now that more desks have been put in place. It certainly looked like more were attending last week when I turned up for my 9am appointment. Although I'm now attending once a fortnight for a meeting with a consultant I still do some jobsearch at Working Links even though I look online at home several times a day. I could be regarded as being parked but the reality is they can't do much for me apart from putting my name forward for vacancies as I have completed quite a number of courses for the unemployed in the past. Anyone who is just starting on the Work Programme in my opinion should just accept the situation but always stand up for your rights if you feel you have been wronged. Attending the Work Programme once or twice a week doesn't seem to be a major issue but it's easy for me to say as I can walk to their offices in around 25 minutes. Eventually when things get tougher and they will we probably will be forced to endure some kind of work just for our benefits. If and when it happens to me you can be assured I will record all my experiences on this website. A miracle might happen and I might find a job but as I have applied for loads of vacancies and most of them were of a basic standard and minimum wage it doesn't look likely. So far Working Links have not even managed to get me one interview since I started on the Work Programme in june 2011. | ![]() |
