Not only the work programme has faults
22 September 2012
As I last went to my local medical centre some 37 years ago over my twisted arm I was totally unaware of how the system has changed. I wouldn't go to see a doctor unless I was seriously ill but after nearly collapsing at home while shaving I decided to phone the medical centre. I have been on the verge of fainting everyday for the last eight months or so but have been able to concentrate and keep my mind functioning and of course lying down to allow the blood to get to my brain. So this was the situation, After I nearly fainted while shaving, I got into my living room and was lying down on the carpet with my feet raised on a chair and phoned the medical centre. A lady answered and told me to phone back tomorrow morning and she would be able to get me an appointment. I almost laughed at the thought that I might not be around the next morning. I phoned yesterday (friday) morning and was given an appointment for tuesday next week so I have to survive until then and I guess I will at least get my blood pressure and heart rate tested. I'm due in to Working Links on wednesday morning for my appointment so I won't be able to attend any hospital appointment if offered on wednesay. Isn't it sad regarding the last statement I made. I have put my Working Links appointment as more important than my health because of the danger of receiving a sanction. I have experienced in my life many good and also bad people working for these providers and sadly some don't have any compassion. At this moment I am typing away without any feeling that I am going to collapse so it looks like it is a blood pressure problem that occurs everyday and hopefully I won't need a pacemaker or any kind of surgery. I have applied for five jobs this week and although I could do them all to a good standard if given the chance I probably should not be applying as I am not in any condition to sustain a job while I have this problem. The sanctions on people are going to become more stringent in the next few months and if anyone is accused of not attending an appointment don't just ignore it if you have not been notified of that appointment. It will only go on your computer record and the jobcentre will be informed.
