A quiet morning doing jobsearch 27 July 2012
I attended on tuesday morning at Working Links and completed an hour or so of jobsearch. When I arrived I noticed that my consultant wasn't in the office so I sat down and got on with the jobsearch. It appears that he had to be elsewhere but I was the only one sat at the computers and it left me thinking that maybe he contacted the rest to advise them that they did not have to attend. As I was due to leave a couple of guys turned up to use the computers so maybe the consultant was eventually going to turn up. I didn't bother waiting around as I had completed over an hour and gone through the websites a few times.
A few people were waiting to attend inductions and as I looked around I felt that the staff numbers were increasing so maybe they are going to be calling a lot more people in for the work programme in the near future. I seem more relaxed about the Work Programme now after all the problems I had with them when I first attended and if I am still unemployed in eleven months time then I would have completed two years on the Work Programme. It will be interesting to find out what happens then. Maybe some kind of compulsory community experience might be forced on me as it would be pointless forcing people onto a programme and then after they complete it letting them sign as normal every fortnight. When I first looked at the funding for the Work Programme I did notice that the provider receives a fee for the first year, then a reduced fee for the second and third year and then nothing unless the participant finds a job. That suggests that we could be with the Work Programme provider long after the two years are up. Let's look on the bright side, we might find a nice cosy job that keeps everyone off our back and allows us to enjoy life.I saw a job the other day that was for 30 hours a week over four days. Now having a three day weekend break sounds rather good.
